A file-host link won't download
You pasted a link from a file host into the Download box. It said the download was added — but nothing lands in My Drive, the task sits at 0% and never moves, or what arrives is a tiny web page instead of the file you wanted.
What you paste is routed by type. Magnet links and .torrent URLs go to your seedbox's torrent engine. Any other http:// or https:// link becomes a remote download instead — our upstream providers fetch the file for you and drop it straight into My Drive. That second path only covers direct links and the file hosts on our supported list, and it needs a paid plan. When a host isn't covered — or is having a bad day — the fetch can fall back to grabbing the plain link, which saves the host's web page rather than the file behind it.
Check the host, then your plan, then what the task itself says — in that order:
On Home, switch the box to Download mode and click the File hosts chip (cloud icon). The Supported file hosts sheet lists every host we handle, with a live count across the top — how many hosts we cover, how many are up, and how many are down right now — and a dot beside each name: green means it's working, red means it's down (down hosts are dimmed). There's a search box at the top. If your host isn't in that list at all, we can't fetch from it.
Remote downloads from file hosts need a paid plan. On Free you can still paste plain direct links (a URL that points straight at a file), but a supported-file-host link is refused at the moment you add it, with "Only paid user able to download file from filehosting. Upgrade to use this feature." The File hosts sheet is visible on every plan, so it's easy to assume otherwise — it isn't a bug. Any paid plan unlocks it: see Upgrade.
Use the ordinary download-page link the uploader gave you. You don't need your own paid account at the host, and you don't need to sign in there — that side is handled for you. Signing in at the host's own website makes no difference to a SonicBit remote download either way.
Every remote download appears in the Activity panel (the activity icon in the top bar), tagged with the host's name and icon. A task that hasn't started yet simply shows 0% — there's no separate "queued" label, so 0% for a short while is normal, not a stall. If it failed, the reason is written on the task itself in red, and a Retry button (circular arrow) appears next to it. That message is the fastest clue you'll get, and it's the thing to quote us if you write in.
A remote download goes into the folder the Download box was pointed at — the folder chip next to File hosts shows which one, and it isn't always the top of My Drive. If Activity says it finished, check that folder before assuming it vanished.
Got a web page instead of your file? That's the signature of a link we couldn't resolve — the fetch fell back to saving the page itself. Remove it from Activity, re-check the host in the File hosts sheet, and if the host shows as up, contact support with the exact link — that combination isn't expected and we'd rather look at it than leave you guessing.
Host support genuinely changes over time: hosts get added, and some get pulled while we work on stability. The File hosts sheet is generated live from what's actually working right now, so it's always the current answer — a host that worked last year may not be there today, and vice versa.
What the add-time errors mean
If the link is rejected the moment you press add, the message tells you which wall you hit:
- "File host is not supported or is currently under maintenance." — we couldn't resolve that link. Check the host in the File hosts sheet; if it's red, wait for it to come back.
- "Maximum number of simultaneous queue reached. Please remove other queued task or upgrade to bigger plan." — you have too many remote downloads waiting to start. Only tasks still sitting at 0% count toward this; anything already downloading doesn't. Remove a waiting task in Activity and add the link again. The allowance depends on your plan — 1 on Free, 5 on Nano, 8 on Basic, 25 on Krypher and Voltrix.
- "Same file is still in progress. Please wait for it to complete, or delete the task." — that exact link is already on your list. If nothing seemed to happen the first time, don't re-paste it; find the existing task in Activity and use Retry or Remove instead.
You can add up to 6 items at a time in the Download box.
The host isn't on the list
We can't add support on request, and there's no setting that unlocks a host. Two honest options:
- Wait and re-check the sheet. The list moves; a host that's red today may be green next week.
- Run a download manager yourself. On a paid plan you can install JDownloader2 from the App Store (Apps → App Store, search for JDownloader), sign in there with your own account at the host, and let it fetch into your drive. It downloads into your downloads folder like anything else. It needs an app slot and runs on coins while it's up — see Install & manage Apps and Why did my app uninstall itself, or coins drain from a stopped app?. This route isn't available on Free — JDownloader2 is a performance app, and those need a paid plan.
Magnets and .torrent links behave differently
Those never touch the file-host path — they go to your seedbox, get their own row on the Seedbox page, and follow completely different rules. If one of those is stuck, see Add a torrent — and why it might be stuck.
Still stuck on a link? Contact support with the link and the exact message Activity showed.
