Download speeds and seeding explained
SonicBit runs on high-speed servers, so most downloads finish quickly. Here's how speed and seeding actually work — and what to check when something is slower than expected.
Download speed
Your seedbox pulls torrents on fast, unmetered connections. Real-world speed on any single download depends mostly on the torrent itself — a well-seeded torrent flies; one with few or no seeders is slow no matter how fast your seedbox is. Higher plans also get more headroom for heavy, simultaneous downloading.

Seeding and the 10:1 ratio
After a torrent finishes, your seedbox seeds it — uploads back to the swarm — which keeps the torrent community healthy and maintains your ratio on trackers.
Every plan on the current lineup seeds with a generous 10:1 ratio cap: each torrent keeps seeding until it has uploaded ten times its size, then stops automatically. In practice most torrents never get near the cap. Each plan also has its own seeding speed — see the plan details on the Upgrade screen.
Seeding is automatic on all current plans and happens in the background — you don't need to configure anything. You can stop seeding a specific torrent whenever you like from the Seedbox page. One legacy tier (Starter / Standard / Super) is download-only — torrents stop when the download completes; if seeding matters to you, check the plan's feature list on the Upgrade screen.
Why doesn't my Free plan seed?
Seeding back to the swarm is a paid feature. On the Free plan, torrents download and then stop — they don't seed afterwards.
If you want your downloads to keep seeding (to maintain ratios on private trackers, or just to give back), upgrade to any plan on the current lineup — they all seed automatically at the 10:1 ratio.
Getting the best speeds
- Choose well-seeded torrents — the seeder count is the biggest factor.
- Avoid dead trackers; a torrent with no reachable peers can't move.
- If everything is slow at once (not just one torrent), restart your seedbox — see My seedbox is down or won't restart.
