Connect over FTP or SFTP
FTP and SFTP let you connect to your seedbox from a desktop client (FileZilla, WinSCP, Cyberduck) to browse and transfer files directly.
Remote Access (SFTP / FTP) is included with every current seedbox plan (Nano, Basic, Krypher, Voltrix). It's not on the Free plan, and a few legacy tiers don't include it either — the plan comparison on the Upgrade screen marks which plans have it.
Where your connection details are
Open Settings → Remote Access (SFTP & FTP) in the dashboard. Everything you need is there:
- Username — your account username (copy button)
- Host — your server address (copy button)
- Port — 21 for FTP, 22 for SFTP (both support SSL/TLS)
- Password — a dedicated remote password you set on that same screen (shown masked; use Change password below to set it)
Your remote (FTP/SFTP) password is separate from the password you use to log into the website. If you've never set it, set it once under Settings → Remote Access → Change password before connecting.
Create a site with Host, Port, Username and Password from the Settings screen. Choose SFTP (port 22) or FTP with explicit TLS (port 21) — plain unencrypted FTP is not recommended.
After connecting you'll land in your account's home directory. Your files live in the downloads folder — open it to see everything from My Drive.
"My files show on the web but not over FTP"
This is the most common FTP question, and it's almost always one of two things:
Files are visible in My Drive on the website, but the folder looks empty (or missing files) when you connect over FTP/SFTP.
FTP drops you in your home directory — one level above where your downloads live. It's easy to think the folder is empty when you're just not in the downloads subfolder yet. (Less often: the remote password was never set, so the client silently fails to authenticate.)
Open the downloads folder after connecting — that's where My Drive's files are. If the client won't connect at all, go to Settings → Remote Access → Change password, set a fresh remote password, and use that.
Still can't connect?
- Double-check the port matches the protocol (SFTP = 22, FTP = 21).
- Moved servers recently? Your FTP host changes with your server — re-copy the Host from Settings → Remote Access (your credentials stay the same).
- Make sure your plan includes Remote Access — Free doesn't, and neither do a few legacy tiers (check the Upgrade screen's plan list).
- Reset the remote password in Settings and try again.
- Still stuck? Contact support with the client you're using and the exact error it shows.
